FAQ¶
What area does the data cover?¶
The published charts cover apartments in Ogre. The scraper itself is configurable —
FALTS_FOR_SALE_BASE_URL sets the region and listing type.
Does "removed" mean "sold"?¶
No. A listing counts as removed on the day it stops appearing on ss.lv. That may mean it sold, or that the seller withdrew or re-posted it. The source does not distinguish between these, so the charts describe removals only.
What currency are the prices in?¶
The prices are taken from ss.lv as published, and the currency is not recorded in the export. Treat "Median price" and "Median sqm price" as source units rather than a specific currency.
Why is view_count empty?¶
The column exists in the export but was not populated by the scraper for these rows, so nothing on this site uses it.
Can I download the raw listing data?¶
No. The per-listing rows include street addresses, so only aggregates are published.
The repository refuses raw data at four points — .gitignore, a pre-commit hook, the
MkDocs build, and CI — and a scheduled job checks that the live site is not serving any.
How are the numbers produced?¶
csv_to_json.py aggregates a per-listing CSV into the JSON the charts read. It records
its input's checksum, the row count and every discarded value in _manifest.json next
to the chart data, and refuses to publish if too many rows are unusable.
How do I build this site locally?¶
See HOW-TO-SETUP.md in
the repository: create a virtualenv, pip install -r requirements.txt, then mkdocs serve.
